No place like home: Fans swarm Tracy mall to welcome Thia Megia

By Zachary K. Johnson

MOUNTAIN HOUSE - Where's Mountain House?

Thanks to the 10th season of the still-popular "American Idol" television show, the people living in the town that didn't exist a decade ago have an answer to that question.

It's where Thia Megia calls home.

Mountain House residents were among the millions of people watching the 16-year-old sing, and hundreds of them showed up to the San Joaquin County town's Central Park to welcome her home Saturday afternoon.

"It's so heartwarming for me," Megia said, her voice soft-spoken compared to the pipes she's shown on stage. "It's amazing to get this much support from my hometown."

Megia and the community swapped keepsakes. The youngest contestant on the show received certificates from luminaries such as Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, county Sheriff Steve Moore and county Supervisor Leroy Ornellas.

And fans got to meet the pop star, who posed for pictures and signed autographs. Right after a brief ceremony on a stage in the park, the autograph line grew to 200 strong. Hundreds more were part of the gathering, which was more like a festival with a ring of food carts to feed the families and fans. Before, she had stopped at a mall in Tracy.

Tri-Valley gives big, warm welcome to Thia Megia!

By Anne Marie Fuller, Contra Costa Times

Fans from as far away as New York came here Saturday to see "American Idol" finalist Thia Megia as she returned to her hometown.

The small town of Mountain House, population 10,000, swelled with dignitaries, fans and press as the San Joaquin Valley teen turned overnight singing star attended a meet-and-greet and recognition ceremony.

Megia, 16, who just finished filming another appearance on "Idol" this week, is the youngest finalist ever on the wildly popular Fox singing competition.

"It's so good to be back home," Megia told a crowd of a couple hundred fans at the mall. "I've been extremely home sick and all the support I've gotten from my hometown has made me feel like a winner."

Festivities began around 1:30 p.m. at West Valley Mall in Tracy. Among the many attendees was Tracy resident Christopher Chan, 12, who claims to be Megia's biggest fan.

"Thia is an inspiration to me," Christopher said. "I met her a couple of years ago at Home Town Buffet and got a picture with her. I voted for her each week while she was on 'Idol.' Today, I am hoping to get her autograph. If I could say anything to Thia, I would tell her, 'Hi and that I love you a lot.'"

He later presented Megia with a bouquet of flowers during the opening ceremony at the mall. And he got her autograph.

Video: Thia is back on Idol stage with Pia, Paul, Karen, Ashton and Naima; "So What?" [if we're eliminated!] ;)

Yay, it's so wonderful to see Thia back on stage but this was shamefully an awful group number!! The girls didn't harmonize well at all and don't even get us started with Paul. It was pitchy and off-key and all over the place...

Obviously, Idol rushed this just to get everyone together so they probably had one day of practice. Still, we really could have done without the singing. It would have been comforting to the ears if Ryan just presented them all onstage and wave to the crowd or something. This is the last time P!nk is probably lending her song to Idol! And we won't blame her for it!

American Idol E-cards featuring your favorite Top 11 finalists, Yey or Nay?

A few weeks ago, American Idol introduced the Facebook poke featuring the Top 11 Season 10 finalists. Now they're venturing into e-cards/video greeting for a fee.

For $2.99 per 28-second video, you can send a pre-formatted video greeting to a friend/loved one from any of the 11 contestants saying 'congratulations' or 'happy birthday' shout outs.

We checked it out so you don't have to! :)

Their Mother's/Father's day options are pretty lame. With no 'mom or dad' keyword- you'll be sending out a greeting that calls out your parent's first names (if common enough name like Mandy, Charlie, Rob) or if the name is not found on the list, they have optional nickname suggestions such as Dude, Bro or Pal!! Imagine sending out a Mother's day greeting to your mom and Thia goes saying, "Hey Dude, happy mother's day!"

Perhaps it will work for hip, cool moms but my parents are old fashioned as heck, they will disown me if I call them by their first names. I wouldn't get away calling my mom "Dude" or "pal" either even if it's Thia saying it!

The "greetings from" does not have "from your daughter/son" too. So if your name isn't on the list you'll have to make do with "greetings from your buddy!"

We think we'll stick to an old fashioned Hallmark greeting card bought at a physical store for a Mother's day greeting. Thank you very much. How about you?

Maybe there is a market for this, we don't know. We're not into these things. Hopefully, the contestants get a "cut" on any sale made from it.

Check the ecards here where preview is free. You could sample all the greetings without having to pay. :)

Why not Haley too? The reason being- we do not want to split the votes! We can only concentrate and focus on one person at a time. When we say we vote, we don't just mean 10 times. We vote endlessly for the full two hours!! But if you must, sure, go vote for Haley!!

Bottomline, we need to keep the girls in the competition especially the one who has the best chances of winning the entire thing. For us basing on who's left, it is LAUREN.

Thank you all for supporting this site, Thia and yes, Lauren! :)

A 'Chat Wave' with Thia and we missed it! Thia, kindly contact us so we can moderate the chat next time around :)

On Sunday April 10th, around noon (ET) Thia (yes, the real Thia Megia!)- [@TMegiaAI10 on Twitter] visited this fansite to chat with the fans. What a wonderful gift and surprise! She was even too kind to explain where our chat box was located. Yay!

Unfortunately we didn't know about it until much later! Sad to say, we missed the 'chat wave' along with the rest of the fans who were having difficulty trying to join in the conversation...

Dearest Thia and all our readers:

First off, we apologize Thia for NOT being around when you stopped by! Argghhh! We were so bummed out.

Kindly please contact us using our contact form, also found on the toolbar so we can plan and prepare better for you the next time you have the free time. We heard there were "spammers" joining in the conversation. We would be able to moderate the chat and facilitate the whole conversation so we will have a more productive and fun experience without the nuisance chatters if we know when you are dropping by again...

We sent a fan mail to you last month via USPS with tracking information but we have not heard back. Do you think you could ask the Idol staff who handles fanmails? We want to send you mail again but worried you might not get it... :(

We have been wanting to communicate with you. This fansite has no public Facebook or Twitter affiliation. Please know that other than the snail mail and this website, we have not contacted you in any other means on Twitter, MySpace or Facebook! We know you have a lot on your plate but hope you could send us a note when you get the chance. Thank you in advance.

We apologize to all Thia fans who were unable to find the chat box and or were unable to login. It is best to view this site using the Mozilla Firefox browser.

Depending on your internet connection, loading of the toolbar located at the bottom page of the site may take some time. Please wait for it to load.

You would need to log in via your social network in order to join the chat. MySpace, Twitter, Yahoo and Facebook are the networks available for you. You could use either one.

Thank you for visiting this page Thia. It means a lot to all of us that you know we exist.

God bless everyone!  Hope to see you all again! We'll have a better chat experience next time... :)

US Weekly: American Idol Backstage Secrets - J Lo's not a Pia Fan, Jacob called Stefano a Diva! What?!

Bitter feuds! Fashion emergencies! Secret Dates with movie stars! Us goes behind the scenes of the Fox hit.

Jacob called Stefano a Diva!

"Two balladeers, one explosive fight. After the march 30 show, viewers missed the backstage feud between LA's Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone. Jacob accused Stefano of hogging all the screen time and screamed, "I'm sick of you being a diva!" " the insider says. "He threatened to kick Stefano's a**!" Staffers broke it up.

Way to go Jacob!!  LOL.

J Lo's not a pia Fan!

We find this a bit odd if not hysterical. J.Lo seem to be a Pia fan from the very start but according to US, "there's offscreen tension between judge Jennifer Lopez and big-voiced beauty Pia Toscano." "J.Lo is always complaining about how Pia mimics her outfits each night on purpose to outshine her," says a show insider.

Take this article with a grain of salt. US Weekly is a Hollywood gossip magazine known for 'scandalous' headlines and over stretching of truths! Just thought we'd share it to those interested. It is rare that American Idol gets a full spread on this magazine after all! :)

More mini headlines: Haley's Rebounding with Casey . Scotty dissed Diddy's Clothing . Lauren and Paul's secret Twilight Skype Dates (with Taylor Lautner and Nikki Reed) and Hulk bible- Thumps James!

The Paul and Nikki story started when the two first met at the Red Riding Hood premiere last month. Paul apparently has no idea who she was! Read about it here.

Coming in newsstands on April 18th 2011 US Issue 844, $3.99 retail.

Don't 'boycott' American Idol just yet, Lauren Alaina is still in the running! Let's kick some guys off the show! [Add PLEASE to that (: ]

Thia's elimination left a sour taste in our palates but with a heavy heart accepted "America's votes."

Last night, Pia 'the never before in the bottom three-frontrunner-media-judges favorite' Toscano was voted off by America!! Clearly something is wrong here.

But we may all be barking at the wrong tree! It isn't entirely the judges fault. It isn't even American Idol producers' faults!

Before you complain and boycott Idol, ask yourself: "why am I mad and shocked? did I even vote for Pia?"

We voted endlessly for Thia Megia! But when she left, we lost interest on the show. It was no longer appealing to us. We liked Pia Toscano a lot but even that was not enough to motivate us to vote for her online or by phone. We are flustered to say that we are sort of a Pia fan but not once voted for her!! :(

We feel that's what happened. Pia fans were just plain complacent and confident and never bothered to vote. "Come on, it's Pia- she's not going to be voted off the show that fast. She'll be in the Finale!"

While we were somewhat worried every week for Thia and nervous as heck trying to get in our last remaining votes as the clock hit midnight on Wednesdays, we have not given Pia a second look thinking she is gonna hang around for weeks and weeks all the way to the Top 3! We did NOT want to split our votes so we concentrated on Thia. Suffice it to say, we did the same for Lauren Alaina.

In our mini poll, we asked "who is your next favorite idol?" Only 224 people pitched in, however it shouts loud and clear- the guys have MORE followers! It is clear on the social network, clear on the idol producers/judges positions (saving Casey Abrams!) and even clearer on how America votes. We are SIX WEEKS into the competition and NOT ONE GUY is voted off.

KTXL Fox 40: Thia Megia is back home in the Valley for a short respite (Video)

"It's nice... to be in my own bed, just taking the comfort of home," gushes Thia on how it feels like to be back home in Mountain House, CA.

She also compared her whole American Idol experience to "like stepping into a hot tub and then soon after just jumping into a pool. It takes some time to get used to all of the ongoing hectic-ness."

Thia showcased snippets of Beyonce (Halo) and Plain White T's (1 2 3 4) tunes she wished she had the chance to perform on the Idol stage showing different sides of her.

B98.5 FM: Thia Rooting for the Girls, Missing Lauren Alaina

It's been nearly a week since Thia Megia and Naima Adedapo were cut from American Idol, and Lauren Alaina is still crying about it. The teen singer was inconsolable when her BFF in the competition, Thia, was sent packing, and Thia tells us that Lauren is still upset. Says Thia, "She actually just called me yesterday, crying, and telling me how much she missed me. I was telling her, 'Please don't cry, because you're gonna see me during touring. You're probably gonna get sick of seeing my face every day.' And she's telling me, "That's never gonna happen!'"

Thia says she and Lauren had a special bond, because they spent a lot of time together because they both had to attend school during their downtime on American Idol. She says, "I love her so much, and I call her my guardian angel...she's just a special, beautiful person...that kind of person who really makes anyone smile...I miss her."

In addition to Lauren, Thia is also sending good vibes out to Pia Toscana and Hayley Reinhart, the only remaining competitors representing for the girls. She says, "I believe in those girls so much. They're absolutely incredible, so we're always rooting for them."

Along with Lauren, Thia was among the youngest finalists in this season of American Idol, and there has been some concern that letting 15-year-old kids audition is a bad idea because they can't take the pressure. Thia, however, says age ain't nothing but a number: "Of course there's a lot of pressure, but if it's something that you really, really, really, wanna do, then all the hard work really makes it all worth it. So...the age doesn't really matter...it depends on your will, basically."

On Wednesday night, April 6th, the contestants will sing songs from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members. Thia says if she'd stuck around, she would've sung a number by Ella Fitzgerald, while Naima Adedapo tells us that she'd planned a number by -- big surprise -- Bob Marley.

Fox All Access: Thia Megia and Naima Adedapo Farewell Performances (Videos)

Fox All Access- When we hear the name Thia Megia we’re always going to think “a voice that’s smooth like honey”.

We’re also going to think back to the first time she sang to us on the fly, sharing a sample of the little homemade ditty she created for her first big heartthrobs, The Jonas Brothers! (It was a beautiful song btw!).

Along with Naima, Thia also had the opportunity to sing a farewell song to some of her fans at our home radio station 102.7 KIIS-FM, so we wanted to share the videos with you.

OK Interview with Thia Megia and Naima Adedapo: "I read tweets from fans and think to myself that I have been [there] before..." -Thia

By Rana Meyer
After the shocking American Idol results show where the judges decided to save Casey Abrams from eviction, that meant a much tougher week for the contestants as two of them had to be eliminated. Sadly, those two singers ended up being Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia. OK! sat down with them to talk about if they are sad about leaving the show, why they are so excited about going on tour and whether they think a girl can ever win this show again.

How are you feeling after being voted off in the double elimination?
Naima: I am alright, actually, because we get to go on tour. That is what is going to buy a house for my children. That was one of my biggest goals in this. That’s where you actually get to perform for all the fans who you connected with and who voted for you non-stop. The vibration is entirely different watching you on TV and then seeing you live. Totally different energy.

Thia: I am super excited about the tour. I love to travel so just the fact that I will be doing that and singing at the same time is so mind-boggling. Singing is my passion and I always wanted to travel the country. And now I am doing it with my AI family. It’s so exciting.

What was it like when Casey Abrams was saved?
Naima: I was happy when they saved him because he is a phenomenal musician, an amazing artist. He’s a good spirit, a good guy. He deserves to be there.
Thia: I think it brought us all to tears when we found out he was in the bottom.  The voting is weird.
Naima: It changes every week. One week your votes will be on top and then the next week they switch because of the performance. It’s anybody’s game.

Is it hard that you had to both go this week since Casey was saved?
Naima: Not really, everyone has to go except for one. Everything happens for a reason, at the right time and the right place. I believe in it.

What was it like living in the mansion?
Thia: At first I was like, “How is this going to be?” All the girls were sharing one room, one bathroom. Eventually, we all worked it out and I kind of miss that. It’s funny how I miss it so much despite the leaks and the flickering lights and the ghost stories. But it wasn’t a haunting.

Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia Live on Good Day New York (Video)

April 5:  Ten years separates them in age but Thia Megia (16) and Naima Adedapo (26) share a unique experience: both competed and were voted off from American Idol together.

But the aspiring professional singers aren't looking down.

Good Day New York sat down with Megia and Adedapo Tuesday morning.

Good Day New york also interviewed Thia and Naima the day after their eliminations via teleconferencing on April 1st:

The earthy 26-year-old dance instructor from Milwaukee and the breathy 16-year-old high school student from Mountain House, Calif., were booted from the Fox talent competition Thursday after "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest revealed they garnered the fewest viewer votes following their respective attempts Wednesday of Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" and "Daniel."

Joining the duo in the bottom three was smiley 26-year-old singer-songwriter Paul McDonald from Nashville, Tenn., who sang "Rocket Man."

When Thia Megia left the “American Idol” stage last week, she did so with one regret. If the hopeful had it all to do over again, she’d show the judges and the audience her upbeat side.

“I probably would (change something),” Megia revealed during a Tuesday morning visit to TODAY. “I mean, I’m not just this one genre singer that can only sing ballads, so I wish I could have gotten the chance to actually show more different sides of me musically.”

Other than the wish for that lone do-over, Megia wouldn’t change a thing, and neither would her fellow eliminated “Idol” contestant, Naima Adedapo — not even the parts of the competition that were out of their control. In fact, when both singers were asked about the recent use of the game’s only save on crooner Casey Abrams, they didn’t hesitate to show their support for that move.

“You know, I think everything happens for a reason, but I really feel that they used the save correctly, actually,” Adedapo said, as Megia nodded. “I think Casey deserved it.”

ETOnline: Ousted Idols Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia on Going Home (Video)

It's been four days since they got their walking papers from "American Idol," so how are Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia taking their joint exit?

MTV: Naima Adedapo And Thia Megia Praise Jamie Foxx 'Idol' Performance (Video)

If you watched Jamie Foxx and will.i.am's high-energy "Hot Wings" performance on last week's "American Idol" results show and thought to yourself, "Where have I seen this before?" you weren't alone. Naima Adedapo rocked a similar drums-and-dance flavor the week before when she performed "Dancing in the Streets," and the newly eliminated singer loved the similarities.

"It was for me! It was like my exit parade," joked Adedapo, who made a name for herself with equally colorful production numbers on "Idol."

In fact, the over-the-top spectacle was just what the doctor ordered for Adedapo and fellow eliminated castmate Thia Megia, who both boogied on the sidelines during Foxx and will.i.am's appearance despite knowing that the odds were against them once Ryan Seacrest got around to announcing the results.

"It took out all the stress with the drums and the music and the live colors," said Megia, who stopped by MTV News with Adedapo to discuss their time on "Idol." "I think it was perfect that they did that [particular performance] before the results. It just made me feel so much better."

"I was like, 'I'm happy! It doesn't even matter now. I'm happy!' " gushed Adedapo, who also admitted that it took all of energy not to run up onstage and join the Carnival-inspired choreography. "I wanted to jump over the couch and get it in with them. They did such a wonderful job. ... I was yelling the whole time. You could probably ask the dancers. I was like, 'You better get it! You better get it!' " she laughed.

Adedapo and Megia have plenty of time to plan future dance routines for the upcoming American Idols Live! Tour. The two of them will join the rest of the top 11 as they hit up North American venues this summer.

Thia Megia Talks About Her Time on American Idol

American Idol’s youngest contestant ever, Thia Megia, handled her elimination with maturity and grace. The morning after her elimination, she hopped on a press call to talk about everything from Idol school to who she wants to collaborate with.

Was Thia surprised she was eliminated? “Actually, I really didn’t know what to expect at all,” Thia replied. “Since everyone else is just so incredible, you just kind of prepare yourself for whatever happens. I didn’t really know what to feel at all, to be honest, but I’m happy for Paul. I’m happy for the both of us because I know that we’re all going to be going on tour and from all the exposure that we’ve gotten from the show, it’s just been incredible and knowing that millions of people voted for you is such wicked flattery.”

What’s it like juggling school and the competition? “We usually do about three or four of school every day, so I thought that we didn’t really get enough rehearsal time. But I guess it was sort of an advantage for us because being minors, it was like an escape for all of us from all the stress… It was cool to actually have that time to bond with the other minors, especially me and Lauren Alaina.”

Thia doesn’t have just one favorite moment from her Idol experience—she has many! “I enjoyed every bit of the competition. I guess that was what made it really hard to say goodbye last night, because you think about every single thing that you’ve experienced on the show…but it’s really not the end of the competition. We’re all going to see each other in a couple weeks anyway, and there’s the tour, which is just so exciting. I guess I’m going to miss the vocal coaches and all that they’ve taught us. I know I’ve grown so much throughout the whole experience, as an artist, as a singer, and as a person.”
