Will you still "Smile" with Thia Megia after the Top 13 performance night song choice? (VIDEO)

UPDATED: March 10th. Added the complete video that shows all of Thia's 'face time' on the performance show including the much searched "Thia crying after her performance..." Such a sweet kid. She was teary because she felt she disappointed the judges and the fans. She's going to carry that to next week's performance and she'll be back in the game! We heart you Thia!! :)

Please vote for Thia:

Absolutely!! We say yes, because we are fans!! The intro of "Smile" was wonderful, Thia!! Though we aren't all too happy with your song choice, you did well overall! We commend you for changing the arrangement of the song but wished you didn't turn it into a jazzy tune in the middle- just plain acoustic would have sealed the deal!! All three judges think so too!

Thia please visit this website and find out WHAT NOT TO SING on American Idol. If you did your homework, you would have known that people still associate the 1936 song to the horrendous rendition of Paige Miles just over a year ago in Season 9!

Ruben Studdard did it first in Season 2 and it was just an OK set- the only reason all three judges praised him was because Simon Cowell picked the song for him to sing. Simon said it was "brilliant." It was just so-so really. Gina Glocksen tried singing it in Season 6 and guess what? She was eliminated! Randy and Paula gave good comments but Simon didn't. He was keeping it real and America agreed.

We also have a feeling that you might have been forced placed in a position where you can't say "no" when "they" pushed the song on you. Were you pressured to sing 'Smile'?! We don't believe for a minute that it will be YOUR FIRST choice! When you were interviewed you mentioned Michael Jackson as your favorite and WANT to sing the song "Music and Me." Why would you pick "Smile" out of the blue unless it is handed to you?!! You could have also sang Adele or really surprised us with a Jason Mraz song, the artists you also said on the interview! Idol is going to sell your tracks on iTunes and we want to put your music on our ipods and mp3 players but it'll be a tough sell if it's all standards and classics!

Nevertheless, just like Paige Miles, you won't get eliminated on this one just because there are other people who sang worse (not that you were, just the song choice!) and MUST leave ahead of you. You also have the Filipinos, Filipino-Americans, and the Asian community backing you and will vote for you... Let's take this as a soft nudge and learn from it.

We so love you like family, we want you to do well. Please consider our advice- though unsolicited, it is given with care and concern! We'll support you all the way through! We'll always be here. Now, SMILE coz we got your back! :)

Smile

The Top 13 sing songs from their favorite artists on this week's performance night show. Predictably, Thia chose a Michael Jackson track, "Smile"... Predictably, the judges didn't like the performance! Sadly, we didn't like the performance either...

Thia picked "Smile" - a song based on an instrumental theme used in the soundtrack for the 1936 Charlie Chaplin movie Modern Times. Chaplin composed the music, while John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added the lyrics and title in 1954. In the lyrics, the singer is telling the listener to cheer up and that there is always a bright tomorrow, just as long as they smile. "Smile" has become a popular standard since its original use in Chaplin's film. (WIKI)

As with other classics, this huge song has been covered by many well known artists including Michael Jackson, Elton John, Neil Sedaka, Natalie Cole, Michael Buble, Judy Garland, Josh Groban, Diana Ross, Westlife, Barbra Streisand, Harry Connick Jr., Robert Downey, Jr. and many more.

Check out what the rest of the idols sang tonight here.

Lyrics of Smile:

Words Written by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons.
Music Composed by Charles Chaplin.
Produced by David Foster and Michael Jackson.

Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by...
If you smile
With your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll find that life is still worthwhile if you'll just...

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you'll just...
Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by...

If you smile
Through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you'll just Smile...

That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you'll just Smile
